Yesterday's post about Dale and my Mom netted a final total of nearly 250 hits on to my website ... wowsa! For a personal sharing of two loved ones, who were friends, and shared their "birth" days, that is quite impressive. If cyber-hugs can reach heaven, they're both feeling aptly hugged this morning! I forgot to mention that there are "photoshows" ... of Dale's visitation and funeral and of my Mother's Day tribute to my Mother. You can find those under the "Roxio" tab!

I posted a couple things about Dale Dohse (and my mother) today, as they had shared birthdays. And, speaking of sharing, I sent the links to a few of our closest friends, and his last employer, the Omaha World-Herald. I thought they might enjoy seeing what I posted. My website gives me "stats", i.e. how many people have looked at my website, locations, etc. It doesn't show me "who" has looked (though I wish it did), especially today. It is still before time to open the store and I have had over 100 "hits". I have never had that many, even in one day, let alone in just 4 hours! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DALE!! I do encourage comments in the blog, and personal messages, through the "Write Me" tab. I wish I would have gotten some responses. That being said, I'm not going to be greedy, but this has warmed my heart - the kind of thing I'd love to be able to share with Dale and Mom. Maybe they're looking down upon me, and all of you, and smiling ... in fact, as I am editing this, the phone just rang; there was no one there! *smile*
~nr lenz I woke up this morning with my dear friend, Scott, on my mind. He lost his lifemate July 3rd this past year. I'm sure today will be a bit sad for him. Dale and my mother shared the same "birth" day. Both are gone now. He and Mom used to occasionally have coffee, visiting in her kitchen! Happy Birthday to my Mother, and to Dale, my best friend of nearly 35 years. I can't help but think they're probably sharing a "heavenly' cup of strong, stout, black coffee this morning! I love and miss them both, so much. RIP
Some legislators and sponsors of the PIPA and SOPA bills (to stop and/or control piracy on line) have changed their stand. The fight about piracy is not over ... and the controversy continues.
I am not "blacking out" today, but I am going to list here several website links that will explain what these legislative measures, if passed, will do. And, hopefully, will also explain why so many of "big guys" are "blacking out" ... I applaud them all, and also am in agreement with them who've stood up against these two legislations. This virtual "sit-in" will, hopefully, have a worldwide effect! I APPLAUD YOU, ALL OF YOU ... whether you've "blacked out" or merely "blacked out your logos".YAY! Here are a few links I found that might teach you more about this, along with a variety of opinions as well.

If you don't know about this legislation, you need to educate yourself and see the possible ramifications of it. I'm not going to pretend I know "all about it", I don't. However, it seems to me that it can be infringing upon our inalienable right of freedoms this country was built on ... I'm still learning. With the internet super highway is so new it seems the government wants to hunker down and get total control of policing what people do on line, and how and where they do it. If you are one, like me, who was frustrated with the control Facebook took with their members, you'd best read up on this legislation.

Everything happens for you, not to you. ~Byron Katie Be a rainbow in someone else's cloud. ~Maya Angelou When I am faced with challenging events or obstacles in my life, I find with persistence and perseverance, I am able to overcome them. Here are a few quotes with which I can identify.
perseverance: steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success persistence: firm or obstinate continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition Paralyze resistance with persistance. ~Woody Hayes "Perseverance is the ability to keep going in the face of continuous challenges. It is the ability to disregard distractions and to stay focused." ~Catherine Pulsifer "It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer." ~Albert Einstein When the world says, "give up," hope whispers, "Try it one more time. ~Author Unknown The greatest oak was once a little nut who held its ground. ~Author Unknown He conquers who endures. ~Persius I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday. ~Author Unknown Knowing today is Friday the 13th, and that it will happen three times this year, got me to thinking about that, and superstitions. I don't know that I believe in superstitions, such as Friday the 13th, but they are entertaining. Here's what Snopes has to say about Friday the 13th! http://www.snopes.com/luck/friday13.asp I also found this website about superstitions. http://www.angelfire.com/darkside/ladyb/alter.html Some of these were little ditties we sang when jumping rope, or skipping, as a child.
Want to share your superstitions, here's an interactive website I found ... http://globalpsychics.com/amusing-you/superstition/index-superstition.shtml ... and here is the link specifically, on this website, about Friday the 13th ... http://globalpsychics.com/amusing-you/superstition/friday-13th.shtml Along the same vein ... not a superstition, but rather to "believe" or "not believe" in something ... I do believe that positive and negative thinking can affect your life. It seems people who surround themselves with negative influences and negative thinkers do struggle more than those who look on the positive side of life, in spite of the negativity in their lives. I've lived long enough to realize one of the reasons we're on this earthly plane is to learn to overcome adversity; adversity builds character and strength. Life, in general, and aging is not for the light of heart. Challenges we face in life - are a part of life. I was always told, "Can't never did anything." ~nr lenz The handwriting on the wall may be a forgery. ~Ralph Hodgson Did you know that the fear of Friday the 13th is called friggatriskaidekaphobia? |
