For those of you who don't know what BVO is ... look on the ingredients of your favorite soda or energy drink! It is listed as 'brominated vegetable oil'. Sounds harmless enough, right? As if soda is not bad enough for us, and most people (including myself) had no idea or paid much attention to 'ingredients'. Concentrated sugar is bad enough, but wowsa ...
I have consumed more than my share of Coke (although I've read that Coke and Pepsi do NOT contain BVO), for most of my life. I mostly drink good water (still have one occasionally) now and have for about the past 10 years or so. I will tell you, it was one of the worst of my bad habits to give up! Like anything it life, it's a 'process' when working on life changes, especially bad habits.
After the research I've done, it will be much easier to abstain from these drinks. Every time I grab them, I will quietly ask myself, "Would you consciously drink or ingest the same ingredient that is in cleaner for your pool or spa??? Ugh ... talk about a slow poisoning, and probably slow death ... is that 'sugar' high worth compromising your own health?
What is bromine? Here's its origination:

What are some of the uses of bromine? Initially, here are a few uses I found listed from http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_bromine_and_what_are_its_uses:
· fumigants · flameproofing agents · water purification compounds · dyes · medicines · inorganic bromine (AgBr) is used in photography film · pesticides · water purification · used to make plastics flame retardant · gold extraction. I'm sure these are only a few.
BVO usage has been banned in many countries, however, not in the US ... and yet, we as consumers are supposed to believe in, and trust, those very agencies who look over and head up our food supply. Yeah, right ... it's obvious it's all corporate greed and power. Our welfare means nothing. This is worse than a purposeful 'birth clamp'. Shame on all of them who allow this kind of thing to happen. And BVO is just ONE of how many toxic ingredients we ingest, and products we use - not just food.
