a bitchy woman that must have her way exactly, or no way at all. A diva is often rude, belittles people, and believes that everyone is beneath her ... a diva often thinks that she (or he) is so much more loved than what they really are ... selfish, spoiled, and overly dramatic.
diva: prima donna
prima donna: From Italian words meaning "first woman" or "first lady", depending on your preference. The prima donna is the leading lady in a performance, especially in opera.
Described as someone arrogant, vain, or just plain bitchy, diva and prima donna have become synonymous with a show-off or a bitch, whether it refers to a male or female.
"Prima donna" refers to someone who is vain, arrogant, unreasonably, and difficult to work with. Unlike "diva" (which has largely replaced the older term), prima donna is more easily used for either gender.
The term also implies that a prima donna is overrated due to an overestimated sense of self-importance (ego). Many actors, professional sports stars, and musicians could be labeled as prima donnas.
I don't understand why people who are exceptionally egocentric and full of themselves think it is "cool" to be referred to as a "diva". Why not just admit to being a bitch or being difficult to work with? I don't see where either term - diva or prima donna, are at all complimentary to the person who carries it. What a strange world we live in!
And what will they think of next? Look what I found? Familiar with a "Diva Cup"? Still want to consider yourself a "Diva" now? http://divacup.com/ Somebody just had to jump on the "diva" bandwagon and find a way to make BIG BUCKS from the term! It especially amuses me because women are sometimes bitchy during their "monthly" time.
