I stopped for my usual cheap cappuccino on the way to work this morning and as I approached the front door of that quick stop, I noticed a lump at my feet. It was nearly the same color as the concrete. I looked again - it was a man's "very used" wallet. The first thing I noticed was all the "green" sticking up out of it (yes, lots of greenbacks). I don't know how much there was as I never looked inside this wallet.
Initially, the bad girl side of me spoke, "finders keepers, losers weepers", hehe ... I'm struggling, I could use a "cushion". Instead, the good girl side of me left this wallet with the store clerk. The young man who lost it had already come back, trying to re-trace his steps, hoping to find his wallet. I can see why he overlooked it. I told the clerk he should remind him that he's lucky someone honest, and with integrity, found it. I also reminded them that if there's anything missing, "I didn't do it." (in case they're not honest) So, I've done my good deed for the day. I'm kidding about the bad girl/good girl thing, but I did almost put it in my pocket - to contact him myself, or I thought I should have taken it to the police station. I also thought about where their cameras might be hung. I would not want to be accused of taking it, from the premises. I'm a firm believer in karma and my luck, I'd go out and get hit by a cookie truck or something, for having ill intentions. At this age, I have no ill intentions - only good will and well wishes, to all people in my life - and, really, toward mankind.
