I understand this young boy wanted to run away from home, and took the gun for "protection". Speaking of protection, why wasn't this gun locked up? There's always "more to the story" ... according to this article, the boy is from a broken home; and both parents have criminal history. Apparently, he got the gun from a visit with his mother last weekend; the gun belonging to the mother's boyfriend! Why would you have a gun (and accessible), to a young child? Why did the boyfriend have a gun on him anyway, with a parental visit? It makes me wonder if the mother's boyfriend doesn't also have a shaded past. I tend to think that gun was probably not for "hunting". What a shame, and the sad thing is that this happens all too often. Unfortunately, not an isolated incident. And where was his mother, in court?

What a shame ... pretty sick "joke" ... ending in suicide. Life is tough enough these days, without hate, prejudice, and bullying. How about letting people have the freedom to "walk to the beat of their own drum", without having to look over one's shoulder, or be harrassed and condemned for a lifestyle different than your own?
