She graduated from Tempe Normal School, later Arizona State University, in 1911. In 1910 she married A.F. Willebrandt. They moved to California where she taught and studied law at night. She received her law degree from the University of Southern California in 1916 and a master's degree a year later. The couple divorced about 1920.[1]
