The above quote is from official Ralph Lauren website homepage. Shame on you. How very disappointing to find out the uniforms for the 2012 opening & closing ceremonies are “Made in China”!
I feel it's an abomination for the U.S. Olympic uniforms to be "Made in China"! With the state of the economy and the stats of unemployment here in our own country and now the U.S. Olympic committee has chosen a designer who "outsources" something so representative of our "red, white, and blue" ... OUR country, OUR athletes, OUR patriotism and pride. What the hell were ALL of them thinking anyway?!
And, personally, I wouldn't care if it cost more money ... this travesty is a slap in the face to us, as a country. Obviously, someone didn't do their homework. Wowsa! Privately funded or not, supported by sponsors or not … sure Ralph Lauren is one of those “sponsors” and is an “American” company, but he “outed”our unemployed and “OUT SOURCED” this job.
C’mon what about that doesn’t HE get?!
Ralph makes me want to "ralph" ! I cannot believe he actually thought he could get by with this, and have no one notice. How and why did this happen? How can he purge this faux pas, without personal regurgitation? I hope he’s as embarrassed as we are sick about his poor choice to out source.
Shame, shame, shame … I would like to see the games boycotted (even by those who are having to wear them). I’m sure that won’t happen, but I know I won’t be watching. As a natural born American, I am personally offended by Ralph Lauren. I’m not a politician, but even if we do “owe”China, does that make it right that we keep feeding into their hands, rather than keep work and business here at home?
Now he promises “American made” in 2014 –rather presumptuous to think he will have the “privilege” of doing them again …dance, Ralph, dance! It’s obviously about “money” … their PROFITS … profit, and simply a “business” deal … forget pride and home. Are we that easily“bought”?
Having expressed all this, I must make it clear that this is not about China (it could have been any country), or our imports from them. We need imports and exports. This is about our country, our own survival, and country pride!
And a French “beret” … what’s with that? … made in “Canada” … hmmm … no offense,
Canada!
