Since posting this, I have written a couple mof what I would call "consumer advocate" letters to them, and they have refunded my purchase money. Let me tell you, these people who sell their "services" on the internet "bank" on the consumer being "dumb, inept, and unaware". Being a front person for many businesses in my working life, I've learned a lot and have been a "communicator" for lots of issues like this. Once you complain, they tell you no, it's not their policy, or it's clearly stated in the rules, regs, conditions, etc., most consumers will "roll over" and take no for an answer. Not me, I become very proactive and continue communications with my reasons why, or why not ... and, usually, end up with cooperation. We have become such a "dumbed down" society ... it's really sad that it's so easy for these retailers and people who offer services such as this to take such unfair advantage of the majority of consumers. You need to fight for your rights, fight for injustices ... not just "roll over" and take it. I did write them, and thanked them, for their cooperation! What are referred to "elastic clauses" in contracts, all exactly that ... they are hidden, they are deceiving; but often they do have flexibility and can "work with you", if you are persistent enough.
Let me share my experience with the above website. I happened upon this website the other day and decided it might be a good way to eliminate so much research with my genealogy trek, so I decided I would try it. So far, I have had a horrible experience with these people and their website. As Sir Walter Scott said, “Oh what a tangled web we weave, When first we practice to deceive.” This really applies here. After being so diappointed with their website and my searches that either led me to a dead end, or if something "might" have been found, it would cost MORE money, beyond what I had already paid - to get the "details". Needless to say, I was an unhappy camper. I wrote them, explaining my my disappointment and requested a refund. Of course, it was not their policy, and they would not refund to me, informing me that it was "clearly stated in the contractual agreement".
