My heroes are not famous. My heroes often go unnoticed. My heroes don't necessarily have a face you would recognize, know about, or even hear about. To me, a hero is someone who has endured or overcome overwhelming adversity, defying odds against them. To me, the most heart warming thing about them is how they seem to be incredibly optimistic, in the face of those odds against them. Those are the ones that exemplify courage and strength. Those are the ones that see the goodness in life, in spite of their obstacles.
Those ... are my heroes!
A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles. ~Christopher Reeve (I have felt, and wrote the above, before finding this quote from one of my favorite actors.)
Show me a hero and I will write you a tragedy. ~Unknown
A hero is a man who does what he can. ~Romain Rolland
A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself. ~Josephy Campbell
A hero is simply someone who rises above his own human weaknesses, for an hour, a day, a year, to do something stirring. ~Betty Deramus
Heroes take journeys, confront dragons, and discover the treasure of their true selves. ~Carol Pearson
