After the snow finally quit, I glanced out and thought to myself, "Now I have to scoop that mess - when I cleared my windows earlier in the day, it was unbelievably heavy! I always have to psych myself up for that task. I just peeked out a bit ago to check the temp, and the winds . . . to my surprise, someone has already scooped my walk for me. Thanks! There are a couple of neighbors who occasionally are kind enough to do that for me. Yay! I do still need to clean off the windows on my car, but it can wait until morning.

"It's too bad we can't begin life with the wisdom we gain as we age!" ~nrl I consider myself a pearly nugget; a work in progress. As a pearly nugget there is constant learning. I'm a poor reader; it hampers me, but does not limit me. As a child, I was often reminded, "Can't never did anything!" The above writings appear on the homepage of another website of mine (more adult and risque content). I felt it was worthy of sharing over here, too.
It's now 2 pm - still snowing, and blowing. It's April, what?! I was surprised how many people got caught without coats or jackets. What a mess; I hope it stays warm enough that it won't freeze up tonight. When I got home, the television and computer were down; just came back on as I walked in the door.
10:00 am What lousy weather today . . . windy, cold, grey, dank, dreary, and rainy . . . so far (and it's not even 10 am here). It looks as though there is SNOW behind all of this. Oh, goodie! I'm beginning to wonder if I will ever be able to store away my winter coat, ugh!
11:10 am - Now we are having heavy winds, with ice balls falling. There is also lightning so bright I can see it through my window blinds! The power lines and the flag across the street is blowing wildly in the wind. I may have to shut down my computer! Even the ice balls are whipping and whirling. It looks and feels like dusk, yes, many shades of grey! 12:30 pm - Now snowing, blowing, with ice balls underneath. So far, the ground is lightly covered, with tips of green grass peeking through! I'm guessing it might be a bit messy when and if it gets cold this evening! Mickey Rooney has died, at the age of 93. Rest in peace, good buddy.
As a child actor, he was in the entertainment business more decades than I am old! One of my favorite quotes: "I was a thirteen-year-old boy for thirty years." ~ Mickey Rooney An Omaha connection with Mickey Rooney: http://www.omaha.com/article/20140407/GO/140408861/1181#.U0M2p_ldXHU http://news.yahoo.com/one-surefire-way-help-kick-depression-quit-using-193444245.html
Here is my Yahoo comment about too much time on FB causing depression: "Humans are wired with "free will". Anything in excess is unhealthy. Begrudgingly, I got sucked into FB to keep up with family until a "so-called" friend of my niece decided he didn't like me (doesn't know me). She, because of his angst, blocked me and also got her mom and cousins to do the same. I felt if they are that shallow; who needs that? She actually did me a huge favor! I'm off FB and have been for a very long time. I miss updates about my daughter, her life, and my grandchildren. The whole world knows more about them than me. Hey, it only takes a few more strokes to email. I also have a land line and a cell phone. I'm still here, still available, and still love them - in spite of how I feel about their actions, choices, and FB." I don't miss it. Having said all of this, I recently joined Twitter. Not for a social medium so much as I enjoy the challenge of 140 characters to express an opinion or make a point. I also enjoy posting and sharing some of my favorite photos. It is my choice whether I spend 10 minutes a day, or hours a day on this website. I also find I learn a lot from those I "follow". It's a good learning tool. None of my family are even on Twitter, that I am aware of . . . "And that's the way I have always lived, for the laughs -- today. N-O-W. No Other Way." ~Mickey Rooney

I read the following article, and wanted to comment ... I still detest FB ... it would not let me comment, without a FB account - what bullshit (sorry). http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20140405/METRO01/304050027/Berman-Brutal-beating-shows-extreme-side-bad-Detroit Most comments are, of course, are jumping on the racial bandwagon, because the driver of the truck was caucasian. Here is my comment about this story: What a sad, tragic situation; he was the victim of a hate crime. It's too bad their mentality wasn't to help the man, help the boy. Instead, they chose to go 'vigilante' before even knowing the facts. As for it being a 'racial' issue, I know white boys who might have done the same thing, in a similar situation - just because they 'could', having nothing to do with the color of someone's skin. They may have just been 'looking for trouble', and that situation gave them a good excuse to beat on someone. I wish the accident victim and the hate crime victim speedy recoveries and well wishes to their families and loved ones!
