I just heard Robin Roberts' special news this morning. She is going to have to have a bone marrow procedure, perhaps a side effect of all of her breast cancer treatments. She has handled her health challenges face front, with so much grace, in front of all of us. I have watched Good Morning America for years (way before it was called 'GMA'). The good news is that her sister is a perfect bone marrow match. Robin begins her treatments right away and wanted to let viewers know, before rumors start circulating. She will come to work, with bandages, and wanted squelch any rumors, from the git go. I wish her well, and will continue to send positive thoughts, prayers, and good feelings her way. Go git 'em, girlfriend!

Misunderstanding is my middle name. It took half my life and "couch" time to find out that I have a personality type that encomprasses only about 7% of the entire population. The way I see it, that leaves me 93% chance of being misunderstood (and often am). And I have, more often than not, had to re-explain myself - all my life. Through this discovery I have come to the conclusion that it's all right to be different. The world needs more people like me. *smile* ~nr lenz
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant. ~Robert McCloskey It is better to understand little, than to misunderstand a lot. ~Anatole France The single biggest problem with communication is the illusion that it has taken place. ~George Bernard Shaw As soon as we start putting our thoughts into words and sentences everything gets distorted, language is just no damn good—I use it because I have to, but I don’t put any trust in it. We never understand each other. ~Marcel Duchamp Friendship must never be buried under the weight of misunderstanding. ~Unknown You have to put up with the risk of being misunderstood if you are going to try to communicate. You have to put up with people projecting their own ideas, attitudes, misunderstanding you. But it's worth being a public fool if that's all you can be in order to communicate yourself. ~Edie Sedgwick quotes In the whole round of human affairs little is so fatal to peace as misunderstanding. ~Margaret Elizabeth Sangster I think a better title for this would be "Count Your Blessings". This poem was attached to a forward. I would like to post the forward, but can't.
Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak. Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has nothing to eat. Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's crying out to GOD for a companion. Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who went too early to heaven. Before whining about the distance you drive - Think of someone who walks the same distance with his feet. And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job. And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your face and think: you're alive and still around. Why complain about, ridicule, judge others? How about cleaning up your own doorstep? It's deplorable the control mass media has on us
Subliminal advertising, yellow journalism, and lies Running rampant, the apex of much ill gotten news Television, radio, newspapers and in cyberspace too They bank on the vulnerable, weak, and desperate Dumbing us down, feeding us lies like candy So much truth and detail is often left out Of what an issue is really, really all about It's not about caring, empathy, or our health It's power, greed, and personal wants, by stealth It's never so simple as 'black and white' Our best defense is to find a back-door way To find the truth, the facts, to be able to learn Not just their questionable 'black and white', But the truth - not only black or white, But all the shades of grey! ~nr lenz I'm on a constant genealogy search. I've connected with, and even met, some distant cousins. Unfortunately, most of them live quite a distance away. Before I began this great adventure I knew little about my relatives, other than my immediate family (which is not too many). I started with my mother's side of the family because I currently live a short distance from her childhood roots. With my father's side, I knew even less. I was lucky enough to find a cousin who has traveled to Norway. He has shared some wonderful stories. Now I've connected with another on Dad's side and he has lots of stuff, too ... to share. I'm so stoked about the possibilities. "The supreme accomplishment is to blur the line between work and play." ~Arnold Toynbee
"There are only two ways to handle tense situations: you can change them, or you can change the way you look at them. There is enlightenment to be had in changing the way you look at things." ~Paul Wilson - The Little Book of Calm "Hoarding: Buried Alive" is a television program on TLC. It is about people in extreme hoarding situations. The hoarding, like faces of a clown ... from denial, to filling a void, to compensating for loss ... so many reasons, why - or why not ... change and motivation can be difficult and painful. Excuses become quite colorful in tone, for release.
