It's been that kind of day, from the get go ... and, yes, things could always be WORSE, much worse. Nothing comes easy today. Everything, so far, has been a challenge.
"I ask not for a lighter burden, but for broader shoulders. " ~Jewish Proverb "Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors." ~African Proverb "There is no education like adversity." ~Disraeli "You can't run away from trouble. There ain't no place that far." ~Uncle Remus A problem is a chance for you to do your best. ~Duke Ellington "Whether we're prepared or not, life has a habit of thrusting situations upon us." ~Lucille Ball~ Ahhhh, that feels better! *smile* I had difficulty with the laminator today and had to send my customer away because I could not solve the problem right then. When she came back for her lamination, I was able to help her solve a problem, with mailers for her project. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. With my company check in hand (already made out), and ready to purchase one roll of $.44 stamps and one roll of $.17 stamps, I was caught a bit off guard. When I told her I wanted a roll of .17 stamps, she politely informed me that those are now TWENTY cents ... 20 cents, for the "extra ounce" factor on heavier envelopes.
Needless to say, I was just a bit aggravated. I asked why it wasn't made "public", and told her I had not seen anything about this. Granted I don't take the local newspaper, but do try to keep track of what's going on in the world. Her response to me was something like that was how the post office does it, just sneaks it in on us ... GIMME A BREAK! First of all, not the right response at all not to mention we have to know weight, size, dimensions, thicknesses, etc. of what we mail. Postage just went up not that long ago and they assured us, then, nothing would be changing in the near future. We are losing our small-town post offices, so they're cutting their staff, we're losing services, and now this! And I heard yesterday they won't be able to pay the government, oh goodie!!! Yes, the internet and email has put a crunch on the postal service, but why should we lay people have to get the brunt of all this? How about quitting using million dollar equipment that isn't all that efficient anyway, and GIVE PEOPLE JOBS!!! grrrr ... and life goes on ... “What looks like a loss may be the very event which is subsequently responsible for helping to produce the major achievement of your life” ~Srully Blotnick
"Mystery is at the heart of creativity. That, and surprise!" ~Julia Cameron "The secret to humor is surprise." ~Aristotle "Expect nothing. Live frugally on surprise." ~Alice Walker This website will eternally be a "work in progress", like me, as long as I am alive. They tell me "God don't make no junk", so I'm banking on that *smile* and try my best to be a better person every waking day. If I were perfect, my name would be "Jesus" (hay zeus), and I would not be on this earthly plane. Part of living is learning; learning builds character, and quite a character I've become (I'm told). Personally, I take that as a compliment, since that remark is most often followed by a giggle, smile, or a grin. I say "most often" because we can't please everybody; that's a fact! I sure hope everyone is having a great Labor Day weekend ... heart-to-heart hugs ...

Won't you come into the garden? I would like my roses to see you. ~Richard Brinsley Sheridan The aim of an argument or discussion should not be victory, but progress. ~Joseph Joubert If you see the world in black and white, you're missing important grey matter. ~Jack Fyock In the ideal sense nothing is uninteresting; there are only uninterested people. ~Brooks Atkinson An exhibitionist is nothing without a voyeur. ~S.A. Sachs Each moment is a place you've never been. ~Mark Strand |
