Being raised in the heart of the midwest, I do so enjoy the "changing of the seasons", yet I've never gotten over my dislike for winter. I didn't like it as a kid, and like it less and less, as I age. The only gratification about enduring winter ... "They can't make me play in it!"
"Bittersweet October. The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter." ~Carol Bishop Hipps
This quote rings true, for me. Fall is a sense of relief from the discomfort of extreme summer heat and the harshness of winter months. The "bitter" is having to endure the entire season, yet I enjoy the "sweetness" of the transistion between the seasons. ~nrl
"Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all." ~Stanley Horowitz
Winter etching, strong and defined
Spring watercolor, rebirth and revival
Summer oil painting, vibrant and bold
Autumn mosaic, hues and shades of them all
