People astound me. We are in an electronic world. People desire 'instant gratification' for being 'in the know', and yet, are the first to criticize what they learn. Had ABC or GMA, decided not to make this announcement on national t.v. you can bet those same people who are being critical of ABC, GMA, and Sam for his choice for a life's mate, would surely have accused them all of "hiding" information ... or of not being honest and forthright about 'dishing'. About those who choose to quit watching the show now - those who are criticizing, judging, and announcing their disgust - I'm guessing their extra time might be well spent 'cleaning up their own doorsteps'! How much do you suppose they are 'hiding' about their own personal lives?
I do agree with people who say that it's not necessarily "newsworthy", except for those who enjoy 'star voyeurism'; but, having said that, there seems to be a 'thirst' for what's behind famous faces, any of them. If you look at how many famous flaunt their lifestyles, not just gay, but anyone who is public. There are those who would rather not flaunt their personal lives but how can they not? What about the media, bigots, voyeurs, and people who are just bored or hell bent on wreaking havoc on or judging others? What would they do?!
Homosexuality has been around for generations, in many facets of life. History documents it. Before the advent of the information super highway, we didn't learn of things until 'after the fact'. In some ways I think that was better - gives us time to not 'shoot from the hip' - time to digest.
... in life, we have choices (a human frailty and God given free will). You have a choice ... not to watch GMA anymore. You have a remote; shut it off. Sam has a choice ... to love and even marry whomever he wants since he lives in a state where it is legal to do so.
For heaven's sake, why can't people just leave them alone? And those who judge him and his choices in life ... it's really none of your business. And what happens to him in the afterlife has no bearing on your life.
