LUNAR ECLIPSE - December 10, 2011

I was up pretty early this morning and CNN reminded me of the lunar eclipse.  I sure miss being out in the country for Mother Nature's finest occurences.  I didn't have a tripod, but I did take a few photos and have made one of my Roxio Photoshows.  You can see it by clicking the "Photoshows" tab.  It's interesting to me to see the progression of position of the moon and lighting of the sky.  Unfortunately, I was thwarted by both buildings, and light.

"In the country the darkness of night is friendly and familiar, but in a city, with its blaze of lights, it is unnatural, hostile and menacing.  It is like a monstrous vulture that hovers, biding its time."  ~Somerset Maugham

"The night walked down the sky with the moon in her hand."  ~Frederick L. Knowles

"No sight is more provocative of awe than is the night sky."  ~Llewelyn Powys, quoted in Highs by Alex J. Packer

"That orbed maiden, with white fire laden; whom mortals call the moon."  ~Percy Bysshe Shelley, The Cloud

Talking about the dark out in the country, reminded me of our very first night in our "new" country home. After living 5 years in the city, we had this street light that always shone in through the window.
Our first night, we got into bed, I closed my eyes and opened them again and couldn't tell the difference. I said to Bill "Man it is dark out here"! I think he laughed for 5 minutes.
I don't know about you, but I love to sleep in a dark and quiet room.
