I've been scooping the walks, clearing from around my car, and the top of my car since about 9 this morning. I was about half done and a young man and his girlfriend drove by, slowed down, asked if I needed help. I'm not proud, as I responded, "If you're offering, yes I do!" He turned his truck around, got out, took the shovel from me and finished it up for me. We conversed as he shoveled and I swept what I could off the car. A bit surprised by my calling him my "angel" today, he told me about being on a path to straighten his life out, and that his parole officer would be proud of him, doing something nice for a stranger. I offered to pay him but he would not accept it. I told him to share that action with his parole officer, that he will be proud of him for that too!
I don't know your name, and you'll probably never happen on this webpage, but I still want to publicly say thank you to him, and his girlfriend (as she patiently waited for him). He says she is why he's been clean for over two years. I know he has a younger brother in trouble. Before he left, I shook his hand, and told him I hoped that he would continue to be a good example for that younger brother, and it will do them all good! I do know he told his brother, "I turned my life around, you can too!" YAY, keep up the good work, young man!! And appreciate that good woman who's helping you!
