All of the following quotes apply to me today. I had a customer today who wanted some lamination. It netted the company $.86. This woman was using a walker (without a seat), with obvious difficulty. She was having trouble standing, so I got her a chair to sit down. It began to rain before she left. Rather than having her worry about getting back out to her car in the rain, I suggested she just sit a bit, and wait for it to subside. She had told me she is sensitive to illness when she gets wet. Also, she realized she had parked a bit too far away from the curb, making it more difficult for her ... I offered to help, and she was so thankful that I would take my time to assist her ... and commented to me, "If only more people are as kind as you have been to me today ..." To me, it was the least I could, for her ... and I hope, if one day, I need the same kind of compassion and help, that there will be another someone to do the same for me. Even simple kindnesses can make the difference, if only in one person's life!
Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. ~Sally Koch Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time, and always start with the person nearest you. ~Mother Teresa Wherever a man turns he can find someone who needs him. ~Albert Schweitzer He who gives when he is asked has waited too long. ~Sunshine Magazine The difference between a helping hand and an outstretched palm is a twist of the wrist. ~Laurence Leamer, King of the Night Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth. ~Mohammed Ali It's easy to make a buck. It's a lot tougher to make a difference. ~Tom Brokaw Even if it's a little thing, do something for those who have need of a man's help, something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it. For, remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too. ~Albert Schweitzer Just because a man lacks the use of his eyes doesn't mean he lacks vision. ~Stevie Wonder
Good friends are like STARS ... you don't always see them, but you know they are always there. ~Unknown I don't wish to be everything to everyone, but I would like to be something to someone. ~Javan Ink smears, as thoughts sometimes do. ~Terri Guillemets We are never prepared for what we expect. ~James A. Michener, Caravans There's no such thing as bragging. You're either lying or telling the truth. ~Al Oliver The aim of an argument or discussion should not be victory, but progress. ~Joseph Joubert, Pensées, 1842 The chains that bind us most closely are the ones we have broken. ~Antonio Porchia, Voces, 1943, translated from Spanish by W.S. http://gimundo.com/videos/view/validation-a-beautiful-love-story/ Yesterday, as I was traveling west on I-80 I was distracted when I got to Lexington, Nebraska. There is a military museum there, just off the interstate. The land there is a spring gathering spot for crane, ducks, and gesse. There are a small amount of them, all year round, but their numbers increase as spring approaches. I have two videos on my You Tube page. It was difficult to video with any steadiness as the wind was very strong, and it was very cold (and me with no gloves). My effort was to be able to show the volume, and their song in flight! Geese, ducks, and crane, en masse, are quite a sight and sound to behold! For those who may not know, south central Nebraska are an international attraction for crane migration, in the spring. Here are a few links, if you'd like to learn more about them.

I understand this young boy wanted to run away from home, and took the gun for "protection". Speaking of protection, why wasn't this gun locked up? There's always "more to the story" ... according to this article, the boy is from a broken home; and both parents have criminal history. Apparently, he got the gun from a visit with his mother last weekend; the gun belonging to the mother's boyfriend! Why would you have a gun (and accessible), to a young child? Why did the boyfriend have a gun on him anyway, with a parental visit? It makes me wonder if the mother's boyfriend doesn't also have a shaded past. I tend to think that gun was probably not for "hunting". What a shame, and the sad thing is that this happens all too often. Unfortunately, not an isolated incident. And where was his mother, in court? http://abcnews.go.com/US/rutgers-trial-dahrun-ravis-webcam-spying-prank-criminal/story?id=15776275 What a shame ... pretty sick "joke" ... ending in suicide. Life is tough enough these days, without hate, prejudice, and bullying. How about letting people have the freedom to "walk to the beat of their own drum", without having to look over one's shoulder, or be harrassed and condemned for a lifestyle different than your own? http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/02/bill-mahers-million-comedian-cuts-big-check-to-pro-obama-super-pac/ Hmmmmm ... no comment ... wowsa ...
