The human psyche is a fascinating thing. I'm often stunned at the attitude of people who walk or drive using a cell phone or musical device - and have the audicity to be indignant to, for example, if they, themselves, cause a "situation" for someone else - a driver they don't see and cause an accident - or when in a store and a salesperson wants to offer help, and they ignore or even use body language to push them away. I never thought I would see our society more in touch electronically, rather than one of eye-to-eye contact and human interaction. It saddens me that cyberspace and electronic devices have diminished common courtesy to others. I see such a lack of apathy, empathy, and compassion - even within the confines of a family unit. I'm betting that someone who sits and "texts", let's at say at a family gathering, would be personally offended - if someone did that to them! I'm tempted to say that what's good for the goose, is good for the gander ... but ... two wrongs don't make a right! And what is it that makes someone "text" ... when you use the PHONE to do it ... call me, let me hear your voice! A phone call is easier and more personal than "texting" and also comes with less risk, comparitively speaking. It only takes a few seconds to cause a disaster (anywhere). I guess I'm old school and don't fit well in this cold, impersonal, electronic world. Because I'm not "connected" on line in social websites and don't own a sophisticated electronic device, I have been "left in the dust", so to speak. If you aren't "conneted", you don't count, and seemingly, no one cares either. On some level, I'm sure I miss a lot, but I can't miss something I don't know about. For now, I'll stay blissfully submerged in electronic ignorance ... it's less stressful and more peaceful here! ~nr lenz

Thanks, Jimmie! People who do that are just downright rude and then get insulted when the shoe's on the other foot ... go figure, eh?! I wonder what the stats are for accidents (driving, home, etc.) caused by texting (anywhere - home, on the road, walking, etc.) ... must be really high, I am guessing.

I totally agree with you also. You said that so well and I am sure lots of people agree with you. It really is a sad world anymore. Very sad.

Vicki, I haven't seen much commenting from you in a while. Nice to hear from you. Thanks, and nice to hear from you! I'd like to be able to say things will change, and get better ... but I'm a pessimistic optimist on this one! I hope I'm wrong!
