What a reunion, on high!!  RIP, George!

I'm so familiar with the old style country music artists (too many to mention them all).  My mom, a single mother with an 8th grade education, worked in bars to support her five children.  Whenever the jukebox guys would come and change out the 45's, Mom would bring the old ones home.  I loved getting them ... country and, of course, 50s rock 'n roll stuff, too.  Boy, do I wish I still had that collection!
When I was young, most kids did not like all the "cry in your beer" country music; now "country" is all the rage and has lasted for more years than I thought it would.  But the entire scope and definition of "country" has changed so much since then.

Hijacked Hydroponics

http://www.naturalnews.com/040121_hydroponics_police_state_surveillance.html

I think it's shameful that people who choose to, are unable to grow food, plants, and flowers with hydroponics without the threat or worry of the "big guns" suspecting us of something, before there is any proof.  I've always heard, "innocent until proven guilty" of crimes ... if you go on a "hit list" at the very time you purchase equipment related to hydroponics or things used for "natural" growing, it seems you're already guilty of a crime (in their minds), before there's any reason to even suspect a crime.

People who want to know "what" they are eating, and have a desire to raise their own food should not be on any kind of "watch list" or "hit list" and be penalized for caring about what they eat.  And, of course, growing food, plants, and flowers "in water" is the most pure way.

Perhaps the government should redefine the meaning of "democracy" and "freedom".  We seem to be losing more freedoms all the time.  Also, the definition of a democratic society is not what I am seeing, as I age.

"Using Facebook Gives You No Privacy, Not Really"
http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/advisor/using-facebook-gives-no-privacy-not-really-215002021.html

This article is pretty complete and concise about tricks of the "Facebook" trade.  I've been trying to tell people about this stuff ... ever since I hand-deleted everything, everybody, etc. and left Facebook.

What a reunion, on high!

George Jones passed away April 26th.  He was 81.  What a reunion on high ... George and Tammy!!  *smile*
It's no secret that George Jones was quite the drinker; even he talks about the false sense of security it gave him.  "White Ligntnin" (1959) was his first number one single hit (that's a 45 rpm record).  The best stories I hear about life long drinkers are the ones with happy endings.  As I understand, he was dry and straight the final years of his life and able to enjoy and bond with his lovely daughter.
My condolences to his family (especially to his daughter, Georgette, what a voice), loved ones and, George, may you rest in peace.

"Project Edge" Heading to Iowa

4/25/2013

So ... Kearney, Nebraska has been "romancing" a company called "Project Edge" for over a year.  They want to open a new data center in the midwest.  I wonder how many, if any, knew that FACEBOOK is the company behind the name.  I was a bit surprised; I had no idea.  “Project Edge” was a moniker given to protect Facebook’s identity during the negotiations ... go figure; that's the Zuckerberg way!
They have now opted out of whatever the city offered.  They have chosen to locate in Altoona, Iowa, a town near Des Moines.  Having been a reporter for the Audubon, Iowa newspaper, I'm guessing that one main reason for this location choice is because that area of Iowa have been developing wind energy and erecting several wind turbine farms around the area.  Nebraska is lacking in wind energy opportunities for companies wanting to "go green".

Allergies?

4/24/2013

I can see already that my 'neti pot' and Himalayan salt are going to be my saving grace during the worst of the allergy season!  A couple of months ago I was quite ill, ill enough to finally get the courage to try my neti pot.  I went on line to You Tube and found videos to show me the best way to use it.  It was the use of the 'neti pot' and special Himalayan salt did the trick - it broke up all my congestion and eased my breathing.

The past few days the pollen count around here was a bit high.  I could feel my nasal passages tightening up, and full with mucous.  Sorry to be so graphic ... I used warm water and have used it for two days in a row now.  It has released it.  Also, I can breathe better
and it has even helped with having to clear my throat so much.  Yay, thank goodness for my 'neti pot' - this routine is so much better than taking a bunch of drugs that have more side effects, than the drug itself!

SOSDD, but with a new name ...

As you can see, I'm still using "Pearly Nugget(s)" (plural) name, since it's my logo design from my original website.  I hope that my friends will still stop by, write me, and/or leave "comments" on my blog.  I had re-started a blog ... it's just not for me, yet.  I don't have any concrete reasons to have one, from what I read about them.  I'm not so sure there's any concrete reason for my website, other than I enjoy sharing "stuff" with people who are curious enough to keep up with me, or just curious enough to "peek" in ... my "stats" are way low again, with having to change my website web link.

Say "No" to Cinnamon Challenge

4/22/2013

It's been a dare that's been floating around the internet for a couple of years now.  It's daring you to swallow a TABLESPOON of cinnamon within a short amount of time, without water!
http://www.ask.com/wiki/Cinnamon_challenge

Want to see some results of people who have tried this challenge.  I wonder if anyone has actually died from doing this?
http://www.cinnamonchallenge.com/

Here's a link about NOT taking this challenge.
http://nocinnamonchallenge.com/

Admittedly, its appeal is the watching of reactions people have when doing it.  It has resulted in a few deaths, lung problems,  and a whole lotta regurgitating, as a result.  Is this worth "a few laughs"?  Really?
