Ever have one of those days?

I flirt with horoscopes and mine for yesterday was quite accurate.  It cautioned to be careful with communications with co-workers to avoid conflict.  I was quite careful and as life would have it, at the end of the work day, we did have a small difference of opinion on a work-related issue.
Being later leaving work than normal, I took a different route home.  First, I had a pigeon land in front of my car and, for some reason, wouldn't move.  I inched along and finally it flew out from underneath my vehicle.
I drove on, rounded the corner a few blocks from home, and a cat darted out from between two houses.  I was unable to stop, and felt two lumps under the passenger side tires.  I looked in my rear-view mirror, only to see that disheveled, homeless cat (no collar) lift its head, and took its last breath.
I could not just leave the cat there.  I first attempted to knock on the door of the two houses where the cat came from, to no avail.  Another resident came to their door.  I explained what happened and that I didn't want to leave the cat in the street.  Her husband was kind enough to come out a put its body next to the curb.  He did tell me that they seem to have quite a few stray cats around, but that they have no mice!  He was kind, and told me not to lose any sleep over it.  I just didn't want the cat to die and rot, right there.
When I got home I attempted to contact someone to pick the cat up.  Being after normal business hours, I could find no one who had anything but a voice mail.  I finally called the local fire department and they advised me to call the police department.  So I did.
The woman on the switchboard seemed a bit put out by my phone call . . . even asking, "So, what do you want us to do?"  DUH ... I will drive by that block this morning on the way to work to see if they did, indeed, go pick up the cat.
This day didn't end with this situation. About an hour after I got home, I was checking email, news, etc. on line.  I found this:  http://www.nebraska.tv/story/28745217/police-find-body-in-kearney-alleyway#.VSSS_uTyP_w.twitter There are no details, as yet.  Now I understand the woman's attitude with me, on the phone. The above incident was unfolding about the same time I was calling about the cat I had just run over.  My condolences to the family of the body found in a local alley.  The body has yet to be identified, and the family has yet to be notified.
Lord, extend me grace; give me goodness today.  Bless all those around me.
