THANKFUL?

This poem adequately expresses four things I'm thankful for . . .
four grandkiddos, but thankful includes seven in all,
my daughter, her spouse, and, of course grandpa!

A Grandmother's Prayer
Author: Barbara Burrows ... Submitted by: Ladybeth
from:  http://www.scrapbook.com/poems/doc/10830/221.html

Oh Lord, I do not ask for much,
Eternal beauty, or youth, or such.
Just give me a little hand to hold,
And I'll forget that I'm growing old.

I do not ask for cloudless skies,
A life that's free from tears and sighs.
Just give me a little face to kiss,
And anxious moments will turn to bliss.

For what is there, really, that means so much
As little hands that reach and touch,
As little eyes that search and see
Only the best in fragile me?

So let me grow more loving and wise
By looking at life through their wide eyes.
For through these little ones, you have given
This grateful grandmother a glimpse of Heaven.

This poem came from the POETRY tab at the top of the page, where I post either my own, or poems that move me, for whatever reason.  ~nrl

I find it interesting . . . world terrorism strikes .... 9/11 ... and now ... 11/13
These terrorists are now boasting, "The U.S. is next on their agenda!"
http://www.etonline.com/news/176137_husband_of_september_11_hero_returns_glamour_woman_of_the_year_award_after_caitlyn_jenner_is_honored/
While browsing on Yahoo homepage I found the above story.  Because I feel so strongly about Bruce Jenner and his desire to 'become a woman", I've decided to write a few paragraphs and then post the link, from here.
I think it is somewhat normal for children to "explore" their physical makeup and the differences between them.  I don't feel, if they have, they are prone to be gay.  I have been a fence sitter about whether being homosexual is by nature (genes) or by personal choice.  I'm divided because I have known gays who seem "environmentally gay" and also gays who "just knew" from a young age, they were different.
My step-brother was a closeted gay, for years.  After getting beat up by some anti-gay punks in a Hollywood alley, he called mom and asked us for help to commit himself, hoping to find a way of accepting (and coming to terms) with his own lifestyle.  Growing up, one of the things I loved the most about Larry was his musical talent.  He played the most beautiful piano; he would play show tunes, and we would sing together.  He is gone now; I miss that part of him.
The entire gay/homosexual community is much more diverse than just someone with a preference for a committed relationship with someone of their own sex.  With any controversial subject the majority of those adamantly 'against' an issue, whatever the subject matter, is usually due to ignorance.  Education is key, in order to make a stance, one way or the other.  It seems it's also easier to be "anti" anything, if you are uneducated, unexposed, or uninterested.  And then there are those who just want to wreak havoc on the world, no matter, and just because "they can".
As for this husband who returned his wife's 'Glamour Woman of the Year' award after learning they have chosen to honor Caitlyn Jenner this year, I applaud him.  Not because Bruce wants to be Caitlyn, but because he is standing on his laurels and expressing his stand on the matter.  I have to say, I agree with him.
So many people want to be supportive of him/her; good for all of them.  First of all, who's made the decision to appointed
@Caitlyn_Jenner the "icon" now, for the entire transgender community, in general?  I am assuming that those transgenders who are living on the streets, those who have been written off by their own families, and those who exist and strive to be safe in life don't have, or come from wealthy backgrounds. @Caitlyn_Jenner has no clue. He can't even begin to empathize with most of them because he can afford anything he wants or needs, to fulfill his desire to feel like a woman, including surgical gender reassignment.
Speaking of gender reassignment, no matter what Bruce does, how can he possibly ever know how it feels to 'be a woman', without the proper plumbing.  Initially, I read where he wasn't even thinking about that.  Now I am reading that he/she may do it.  If he doesn't plan to do gender reassignment surgery, then I would say he's just a 'cross dresser', with a female name. And, oh yeah, boobs!
I guess it's nice that Jenner has good intentions.  My fear is that he's made this issue so much on the front pages it will cause more tension and trouble for those who are living 'under the radar' for so long.  Maybe they don't want to be 'exposed' and 'led' by the 'new trans on the block', so to speak!

Got lucky, again . . .

In a matter of a few hours, we had a mixed bag of rain, sleet, snow, and blowing winds.  It was so warm that the snow melted, leaving behind the slush ... and it's cold enough this morning I'm sure the sidewalks and streets will be slick and icy for awhile.  Here we are, sitting in this little pocket, and the worst of this front went east and north.  We have been so lucky, for a few years, in spring and winter storms.

Cheerios; you disappoint me . . .

Cheerios is in the headlines again.  I grew up on Cheerios; it was a staple in our house.  Of course, back then, we had to add our own sugar, if we wanted them sweetened.

The photos here are not ones that were affected. I happened to have these two on hand and thought it was interesting to compare the differences, on ingredients.  And now they have a whole 'line' on products.  My childhood memory has been tainted.

I won't bore you with details, but I do have a lot of 'wits of wisdom' and 'quips and quotes' I want to share today.  I am so frustrated with people who claim to 'listen', yet cannot wait to respond back, obviously not 'hearing' what I want to say.
