My random thoughts . . .

"I sometimes wake in the wee hours of the morning just like my mother used to do, at this age.  She had her coffee, a transistor radio, newspaper, and a night light.  I have my water, the glow of my computer screen and news on my flat-screen t.v."  ~nr lenz

"Sometimes we think we know . . . then life's reality mirror slaps us in the face and shows us differently."  ~nr lenz

"Idiocy and lack of common sense seem to be running rampant in this country."  ~nr lenz

"Unfortunately, it's often devastation and personal tragedy that gives us our biggest lessons in life!"  ~nr lenz

"When I have an exhausting, stressful day it's not unheard of for me to fall asleep in my recliner for what is intended as a nap ... to, instead, wake up and get up and go to bed!"  ~nr lenz

"Learn to embrace maturity ... aging ... it may not be golden, but it is worth its weight in gold, so to speak."  ~nr lenz

Electronic Enigma

7/10/2012

The human psyche is a fascinating thing.  I'm often stunned at the attitude of people who walk or drive using a cell phone or musical device - and have the audicity to be indignant to, for example, if they, themselves, cause a "situation" for someone else - a driver they don't see and cause an accident - or when in a store and a salesperson wants to offer help, and they ignore or even use body language to push them away.  I never thought I would see our society more in touch electronically, rather than one of eye-to-eye contact and human interaction.  It saddens me that cyberspace and electronic devices have diminished common courtesy to others.  I see such a lack of apathy, empathy, and compassion - even within the confines of a family unit.  I'm betting that someone who sits and "texts", let's at say at a family gathering, would be personally offended - if someone did that to them!  I'm tempted to say that what's good for the goose, is good for the gander ... but ... two wrongs don't make a right!  And what is it that makes someone "text" ... when you use the PHONE to do it ... call me, let me hear your voice!  A phone call is easier and more personal than "texting" and also comes with less risk, comparitively speaking.  It only takes a few seconds to cause a disaster (anywhere).  I guess I'm old school and don't fit well in this cold, impersonal, electronic world.  Because I'm not "connected" on line in social websites and don't own a sophisticated electronic device, I have been "left in the dust", so to speak.  If you aren't "conneted", you don't count, and seemingly, no one cares either.  On some level, I'm sure I miss a lot, but I can't miss something I don't know about.  For now, I'll stay blissfully submerged in electronic ignorance ... it's less stressful and more peaceful here!  ~nr lenz

Art in the Park, 2012

I have produced a Roxio photoshow from "Art in the Park" 2012, Kearney, Nebraska.  The day began with a slight threat of stormy weather, however, it all went east of here.  It was a beautiful day for all of the participants and visitors.  For now, the photoshow is posted on my homepage.  Later, I will add it to the "Photoshows" page.  I hope you enjoy it.  ~nr lenz

"Good design is a great  combination of common sense, unusual imagination, clarity of
purpose, aesthetic  insight and a deep reverence for the love of life."  ~Millard Sheets

I have to tell you about the photo - Dennis' grandson (I think)
is standing behind him and makes it look like a double exposure photo.  I couldn't pass that one up!

My You Tube Page

I am beginning to re-populate my You Tube page ... it will be a "work in progress" for a while.  It is time-consuming to upload videos.  I am trying to "mix up" the order of them to eliminate having several of the same band, all in a row.  I have also added other things besides just music.  ~nr lenz

Life is a great and wondrous mystery, and the only thing we know that we have  for sure is what is right here, right now. Don't miss it.  ~Leo Buscaglia

It's never too late—in fiction or in life—to revise.  ~Nancy Thayer

One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon-instead of enjoying the roses blooming outside our windows today.  ~Dale Carnegie

The greatest weakness of most humans is their hesitancy to tell others how much they love them while they're alive.  ~Orlando A. Battista

DNSChanger Virus ... need to know!

7/6/2012

According to HLN, if your computer is affected with the DNSChanger virus, you will lose access to the internet on Monday ... unless you remove it.  The FBI has been warning about this since March and, lucky for us, checking for it only takes a few seconds.  HLN's Clark Howard goes through the process to show you how easy it is.

It only takes a few seconds to check if you have the virus.

Remove it now or lose access to the internet on Monday.

HLN's Clark Howard walks you through the process.

I did it this morning, luckily, it looks as though I am safe.  I may also check "manually" later on.  You have both options and they are clearly spelled out here by Clark Howard.

Dale Dohse
My special friend, Dale Dohse, passed away one year ago today, July 3, 2011.  How ironic that a year later, one of his childhood t.v. favorites passed away, on the anniversary of his own death.

Andy Griffith
Andy Griffith, man of many talents - from television, to film, to music, to humorist, was a childhood t.v. favorite of both Dale's, and mine.  I posted their pics side by side; they could have passed for brothers!
